Opera Mini web browser App Reviews

Private mode isnt

I downloaded this because I dont like Google or Safari. However while using Private mode, I copied a password and I cannot get it to clear. I deleted the app less than 1-hour after downloading. Too bad, it is fast and looks great.

Search Bar No Longer Works

The search bar no longer works. Not intuitive and crashes often. Avoid.

Better than safari

Used on all my devices. Quick easy simple

Lacking Search Engines

I found no way to set search engines except 4 that were picked out for me. I would much rather have DuckDuckGo than Google. Also, browser seems a bit slower than Safari or Chrome on my iPhone 6s. Firefox for iOS is in the same boat for slow load times.

Switching over after years of Chrome

Ive been using Chrome for iOS ever since it came out and I was confident enough to say that it was the best mobile browser ever. It had everything that I wanted; desktop syncing, flash, etc. I decided to give Opera a try and my, was I blown away. The data saving feature is an absolute must for me because I dont have unlimited data. The UI just feels a lot more cleaner and minimalistic (which some people prefer). Overall, I would give this app an 10/5 if I could.

Frequent hangs

Hangs upon switching between apps but decent overall. Enjoyable layout, data reduction tools are nice. Difficult to clear data/cache/cookies, however.

Boooooo!

This used to be one of my favorite browsers. Now every time I type in a web address or click on a bookmark it Googles it instead of taking me to the actual website. So frustrating.

keep messing with bookmarks

Opera constantly changing speed dial, injecting links to websites that pay them. The latest change makes it so that speed dial links open to a google search instead of direct links. Im done.

The best.

No other reviews needed.

Great browser, sketchy new owners....

Love Opera, have used the desktop version since the 90s, and enjoy the various iOS offerings. I have privacy concerns after their acquisition by a Chinese conglomerate. May be no issue whatsoever. The concept of privacy is smoke & mirrors these days in general but some areas merit more skepticism. Im switching back to Safari till I learn more.

JUNK O!

Opera has to get involved in everything, she should keep to what she knows which isnt much, but it darn sure isnt web browsers. This app is junk and the O browser for computers isnt far from it. Perhaps this app is intended for the O followers because it sure is worthless to everyone else. Give it a rest Opera you dont have a clue what youre doing and who to hire that does. 10/11/2016

Adware and Crashes

When audio starts playing all of the sudden on your device while on the speed dial page, you know the adaware and spies of Opera and their advertisers are out of control. Not to mention the constant crashes and force close of the app. Shut the browser down, music and ads stop running. Sniff the traffic also, chrome, opera and many browsers with their ad and analytics creeping around in the background tracking your every move. Going to find a Tor browser, or stop using this Apple malware iPad forever.

What a joke, doesnt block ads or pop up.

Falsely advertised with built in ads block, doesnt block ads or pop up. And pop up advertisement video automatically playing in foreground. Back to square one again, Safari with add on ads block.

Constant crashes

Apparently Opera cant handle sites with ads. Its completely unusable on the modern web.

False advertising

Ad blocker doesnt work. Not even sure of turbo really works. Gimmicky

I like Opera but...

...a company that takes privacy as seriously as Opera seems to ought to allow a search engine choice other than Google. At least Bing has rewards that will pay you back for using it (I cant count how many Starbucks or Amazon gift cards Ive gotten) but the only folks profiting off of Google searches are Google or the people they sell your information to. Id love to see Opera allow a choice of search engines, especially Duck Duck Go. In addition, Opera constantly auto-plays videos embedded in web pages in full screen. It is annoying when the page you are browsing suddenly disappears and a video you didnt ask to see starts playing. Surely Opera can fix this as it is super, incredibly annoying.

One major flaw...

The task bar icons at the top dont go away when watching a video. Even when the video controls disappear, the icons at the top are still there, and they get in the way of the video. Please fix!

Lol

Lol guys look in the corner it says no service xD

One small issue …

Great app! I love the data saving features. It seems to be a hair slower than Safari but nothing significant to be a concern. However, the latest version always crashes when I try to access my desktop speed dial. Each time I hit the button, the app crashes on me. Ive logged out and back in and still it crashes. Also, it keeps adding in the default speed dial icons even after deleting them multiple times.

Crashes every 10 minutes

Crashes all the time devs dont seem to care how awful their product is
